Below is a list of topics
for the Workshop. These will be condensed into a 3 day course. We will have a
lighting workshop Teleconference from NERLite on
Friday from noon until one to discuss the impact of
lighting on your application.
Day 1
Start Time:
8:30am | End Time: 5:00pm
Introductions
DVT Hardware:
SmartImage Sensor Hardware review including speed,
memory, and CCD comparison. External devices such as the isolated break out
Board (CON-IBOB), Expanded I/O module (CON-ETS), SmartLink,
and Serial Converter will also be covered.
Intellect
Basics – Introduction to the graphical user interface (GUI). This Topic will
cover basic navigation of the GUI, setting Intellect options, and getting
started with an inspection.
Machine
Vision skills – This section gives the user a look into how machine vision
works. Fundamental skills are learned by examining Pixel graphs, Histograms, and
a variety of applications from various industries.
Imaging –
This topic will cover methods used to achieve a good image using both hardware
and software. Topics covered will be image thresholding,
lenses, FOV balancing, sensor gain, exposure time, strobing
options, partial imaging, and image blurring.
Lighting and
Optics – This topic covers basic light properties, source selection, common
techniques used in machine vision, and a review of field applications.
Day 2
Start Time:
8:30am | End Time: 5:00pm
Emulator -
This Topic will cover how to emulate a SmartImage
Senor for off-line testing of inspections.
Positioning
Sensors - This topic covers the different methods of monitoring the movement of
a part using Line sensors, Line fit sensors, Circle fit sensors, and Area based
positioning sensors. The advantages and disadvantages of each algorithm used for
position (Blob, Pattern Find, and Object Locate) will be discussed.
Counting
Sensors - This topic covers how to utilize the counting Line and Area sensors.
Inspection of colored parts using the color / pixel counting
SoftSensor and importing colors to other inspection
SoftSensor will also be covered.
Day 3
Start Time:
8:30am | End Time: 5:00pm
Readers -
This topic covers setting up an inspection for various types of 2D
DataMatrix, 1D barcodes, and Optical Character
Recognition reading.
Flaw
Detection – This section covers how to setup inspections looking for flaws or
defects present in a part.
Scripting -
The basics of scripting in a SmartImage sensor will
be covered:
Background
and foreground scripting concepts, variable types, conditional statements,
accessing SoftSensor information, setting script
variables, string manipulation, and Debug statements.
Day 4
Start Time:
8:30am | End Time: 12:00pm Preprocessing – This
topic covers the use of Filter sensors designed to enhance an image before a
SoftSensor inspection occurs.
Communications - This Topic will cover the use of Digital I/O for product
selection, triggering, and pass/fail signals. Basic TCP/IP communication using
DataLink will be used to transfer inspection data to
external devices.
