Servo Motors

A servo motor is a rotary actuator that allows for precise control of angular position. Consisting of a motor coupled to a sensor for position feedback, it also requires a servo drive to complete the system. The drive uses the feedback sensor to precisely control the rotary position of the motor, which is called closed-loop operation. By running the system closed-loop, servo motors provide a high performance alternative to stepper and AC induction motors. AKM2G Servo Motors

The latest generation of synchronous servo motors from Kollmorgen feature high-torque density and design sizes with performance levels between 0.3 and 10 kW. With continuous torque increases of up to 30% versus traditional servos, machine builders and OEMs can substantially increase machine throughput and performance without increasing the mounting size of the motor. AKM2G is also designed to support a wider array of standard options including feedback, brake, thermal sensor and seal options. In addition, Kollmorgen co-engineering provides an optimum path to addressing non-standard and user-specific designs without sacrificing lead time or scalability.

Stainless Steel AKMH Series

The AKMH stainless steel motor is designed to meet the standards for IP69K, EHEDG and 3A, and is built with FDA approved, food grade materials. The careful elimination of flat surfaces, cracks, and crevices prevents the buildup of foreign material and bacteria. The AKMH housing and cable can endure daily wash downs with high pressure, high temperature, and caustic chemicals. The robust design means that guards and covers are not required to protect the motor from harsh cleaning regimens. These AKMH features constitute quicker cleaning, keeping machines running, and increasing the OEE of manufacturing lines.

VLM Servo Motors

The new VLM family of servo motors provides exceptional torque per dollar for customers looking for a low-cost motor with optimal performance. With a design targeted for the most common servo motor features and offering torque ranges from 0.5N-m to almost 16 N-m, VLM delivers all the torque and performance of a servo while helping control application costs. VLM motors are easy to use, with standard connector options and matching cables, and offer standard motor sizes, windings and mounts to meet most application needs.

Kollmorgen Goldline Series

The Kollmorgen Goldline Series provides optimum performance for applications that involve rapid acceleration/deceleration, compliant loads or large inertia mismatches. These motors are available for 230 and 400/480 VAC line voltage, as well as in explosion-proof, washdown and submersible models. These motors feature an interior permanent magnet design that delivers excellent torque and power density in a low- or medium-inertia or motor, making the Goldline Series the industry standard for performance in high response, point-to-point motion applications.

EKM Series Motors

These enhanced, high performance motors are MilSpec 810E rated and IP67 sealed, and come standard with a stainless steel and chemical-agent-resistant paint, for duty in harsh environmental conditions. High performance nickel-plated MIL-C-38999 connectors offer total environmental sealing, quick mating, triple lead threaded, self-locking coupling, as well as EMI and RFI shielding. In addition, both front-facing and rear-facing options are available. Stainless steel shaft and fasteners prevent external corrosion while a chemical agent resistant paint allows resistance to harsh outdoor environments and chemicals.
