Fiber Optic Amplifiers

Banner Engineering fiber optic amplifiers and sensors are small enough to fit in confined areas and can be positioned precisely where needed with flexible fibers.

Plastic fiber optics usually have a large, monofilament core. Advances in LED technology have improved the performance and range of plastic fiber optic sensing systems to the point that they are nearly equivalent to glass fibers. Plastic fibers are a versatile, cost-effective choice for many fiber optic sensing applications.

Advantages:

  • Less expensive
  • Allow less signal attenuation
  • More flexible
  • Survive well under repeated flexing
  • Can be cut to length in the field
  • Can be routed into extremely tight areas

Most glass fiber optic assemblies are very rugged and perform reliably in extreme temperatures, corrosive or vacuum chamber environments. Glass fiber optic assemblies can transmit both visible and infrared light, where plastic fiber optics can only transmit visible light. Glass fibers that are specially terminated may be used in plastic fiber amplifiers.

Advantages:

  • Powerful and very rugged
  • Can carry infrared light to provide a longer range
  • Reliable in extreme temperatures and harsh environments

This fiber amplifier with IO-Link capability is ideal for general purposes and error proofing, with simple set-up and configuration. Models with IO-Link enable a point-to-point communication link between a master device and a sensor, facilitating remote monitoring, teaching, and configuration. Easy-to-read dual digital displays simultaneously show signal level and threshold. Expert teach and set methods ensure optimal gain and threshold for all applications, especially low-contrast applications. The simple user interface ensures easy sensor setup and programming.

The DF-G2 Series amplifier with IO-Link capability for high-speed applications like part counting or registration mark detection features NPN or PNP output. Designed to achieve the worlds fastest response rate, the DF-G2 fiber optic amplifier can achieve 10 microsecond response time with 5 microsecond repeatability. Thermally stable electronics shortens startup time and maintains signal stability during operation. The user interface enables setup and programming via displays and switches/buttons or remote input teach wire.

Developed to provide world-class long-range detection, DF-G3 fiber amplifiers are advanced sensors featuring dual digital displays for use with plastic and glass fiber optic assemblies. This amplifier offers precise positioning and detection up to 6 m, including water detection. Analog, discrete and dual discrete outputs are available. The cross-talk avoidance function allows seven inspections in dense sensing point applications. Energy-efficient light resistance enables stable detection in industrial lighting environments.

This all-purpose water-resistant IP67 amplifier pairs with fiber optics to measure in extremely hot, wet or corrosive environments, and comes in DC, AC and universal voltage models. Self-contained and easily mounted, this amplifier provides plastic or glass fiber optic sensing in the popular World-Beam QS18 sensor housing.

This Mini-Beam amplifier with compact housing and fast response time (0.15 ms) pairs with glass or plastic fibers to measure in harsh environments. The amplifier offers IP67 water resistance and is available in DC, AC or universal voltage.

This rugged IP67 amplifier with output timing logic can be paired with glass or plastic fiber optics in DC, AC and universal voltage models. The Q45 Series accommodates output timing logic or seven-segment LED signal strength display.

This IP67 rated, compact, rectangular amplifier has available 6 m diffuse mode sensing in a die-cast QM42 sensor housing with epoxy-encapsulated circuitry.
