Wireless Ethernet Gateways

WAGO’s wireless Ethernet gateways (WEGs) provide versatile communication for any application. The WEG is packaged in IP65 housing and easy to mount directly on equipment, making it ideal for use in harsh industrial environments. It can be configured using a button on the front of the unit or via web browser.

The WEG makes it easy to install a wireless network and replace copper Ethernet cables, allowing users to select the best wireless technology for their applications. It can be configured to communicate via Bluetooth 4.0 or wireless LAN, at 2.4 GHz or 5.0 Hz. Users may want to select Bluetooth if stability and low latency are considerations or if there are several other WLANs operating in the area. WLAN communications are used in industrial applications and are simple to set up. The module can also be used as an access point for connecting WAGO PFC controllers to a tablet or smartphone. In this configuration, the mobile device can display the HTML5 web visualizations of the controller.

WEG users gain industry-proven communication and control capabilities without taxing cabled network infrastructures. On-unit LEDs further emphasize convenience, providing at-a-glance diagnostics/operational status updates. A push-button and web-based management tool simplifies configuration. Robust M12 cables provide power and Ethernet connectivity, and approvals include Industry Canada and FCC.

Wireless Ethernet Gateways with Bluetooth

WAGO’s new 758-918 wireless Ethernet gateway is ideal for wireless data transmission in machinery and equipment applications. This robust device, which has an internal directional antenna and provides an IP65 degree of protection, can be installed enclosure-free installation in industrial environments and directly in the field, for example on a machine. The version with an optional external antenna is ideal for use in a control cabinet or in locations with poor reception.

WAGO’s 758-918 WEG supports all current wireless LAN standards (WLAN 802.11 a/b/g/d/e/i/h), enabling the integration of virtually any Wi-Fi subscriber. In addition, this gateway also offers communication via Bluetooth 4.0. With integrated access point functionality, small WLAN or Bluetooth networks can be set up to accommodate seven subscribers. The gateway can be easily configured with a button on the device or via Web server.

WLAN Ethernet Gateway

WAGO WLAN Ethernet gateways simplify creation of a wireless transmission link for Ethernet protocols (e.g., PROFINET, MODBUS/TCP, Ethernet/IP). The gateway is used as a cable substitute to create a robust, industry-proven WLAN link between two automation devices. The IP65 housing and circularly polarized antenna allow the gateway to be used even in harsh industrial environments. Simple, push-button operation provides very fast connection between two WLAN Ethernet gateways. The 758-916 (2.4 GHz) and 758-917 (5 GHz) wireless Ethernet gateways transmit data up to 1,300 ft (400M) line-of-sight. Applications include motion-intensive, “disconnected” mobile or hard-to-connect packaging, construction and energy production machinery.
