Robot Arms

With the all-in-one design of the Meca500, Mecademic offers the world’s most compact and most precise industrial six-axis robot arms. Unlike the typical industrial robot, which is a complex, standalone system that must be programmed via proprietary programming language and interface, Meca500 articulated robots are controlled as an automation component, much like a smart electric gripper.

  • Smaller than any other industrial robot, as well as an embedded controller, the Meca500 is unbelievably compact and easy to mount in any orientation.
  • Built with precision machined aluminum and the best available zero-backlash gearboxes for reduced tolerances, the Meca500 boasts a repeatability of 5 μm.
  • Designed as a plug‑and‑work automation component for streamlined deployment, the Meca500 is particularly easy to interface with any computing device such as a PLC or a computer.

The new Meca500 is now faster, with unlimited rotation on the end joint, precision servo control and absolute encoders. Because all of its structural components are machined, assembled and inspected at Mecademic, the Meca500 boasts unmatched position and path accuracy (path accuracy better than 0.1 mm). The Meca500 enables reliable automation of micropositioning tasks and delicate manipulations.

Meca500’s controller is embedded in its palm-sized base, with no bulky controller cabinet, no teach pendant and no messy cables. With its tiny footprint, the Meca500 is the perfect choice for small, confined spaces. When fully extended, the Meca500 six-axis robot arms are about 330 mm long. The Meca500 weighs 4.5 kg and has a payload of 0.5 kg.

With no proprietary robot programming language to learn but a small set of motion commands, the Meca500 is simple to integrate, with great flexibility and connectivity. An intuitive web interface for operating the robot resides in the robot’s controller and can be accessed via a web browser. This industrial robot arm also supports EtherCAT and includes a safety module whose integrated power supply has an emergency stop and a safety I/O interface.

Mecademic robot arms are intended for industrial use in a wide range of applications including precision assembly, testing and inspection, microprecision positioning, material handling and dispensing. The Meca500 is already at work in various industry sectors such as electronics, watchmaking, pharmaceuticals and health, in nearly twenty countries in North America, Europe and Asia.
